On October 15, 1995 eight strong young women, from varying origins, goals and opinions, met together in search of a special bond of friendship and sisterhood, and formed what is now Xi Theta Sorority. These women felt that Columbus State University was in dire need of a sisterhood for the diverse students on the campus that still allowed for individualism in the wake of knowledge. They accomplished this in one semester, establishing a sorority that not only allowed for individualism and distinction, but one that had
life-long sisterhood, friendship, and love. Being a local sorority has not always been easy, but what we have is like no other. As a local sorority the founding sisters did not base Xi Theta on a national sorority but created everything from scratch. The founding sisters created the Constitution, creed, motto, mascot, flower, jewels, symbol and colors, that fit those of no other organization on campus. This is, along with the diversity of our membership, what made Xi Theta an extremely unique sorority. What makes Xi Theta sorority is that all sisters actively participate in many events on and off campus. We have socials with other organizations and we volunteer on campus and in our community. We are members of Greek Council and SGA. We have fundraisers and sisterhood events. We honor all of those before us and those who will come after. We each grow, change and become leaders. We are a sorority in the full meaning of the word, a group of sisters who love and honor each other's differences. As each new sister comes into our sisterhood, they bring something unique and special to the sorority and it is amazing how different individuals with different ideas can come together to produce a wonderful combination of sisterhood. Our strength and rarity has always come from the diversity of our membership and will continue in the future. We are 85 sisters strong and growing. After celebrating our eleventh anniversary this past year, nothing can stop the White Tigress now.
