PeopleThe members comprising the Student Government Association of Columbus State University consist of members from three primary elements: the executive committee, the voting forum body, and the judicial branch. The executive committee is composed of the President of the student body, the Vice President of Scholastic Affairs, the Vice President of Finance, Speaker of the Senate, and Speaker of the Representatives. The voting forum body body consists of two components: the Senators-at-Large, who are elected by the student body; campus organization representatives, one from each organization recognized by the activities committee. The third branch is the Judicial Branch, consisting of the Chief Justice and Judicial Council members. Executive CommitteeAll Executive Committee members are responsible for attending weekly Executive Board meetings as well as bi-weekly general assembly, or forum, meetings. During forum meetings, each executive board member is required to give an update on his/her progress and happenings of the previous week. Each Executive Board member is responsible for advising one of the standing representative committees and ensuring the productivity of their respective committee. Each executive board member has specific tasks and initiatives that he or she is responsible for according to their individual position. Legislative BranchAll are responsible for attending bi-weekly student government meetings, weekly standing committee meetings, and participating in at least one office hour a week. Representatives are also responsible for creating and maintaining student government initiatives and reporting about them to the forum during meetings. The Senators are elected by the student body. The number of senators shall not exceed 15. They must attend bi-weekly meetings and will assist the executive and judicial branches in policy and legislative decisions. As a group they must elect one of their members as the Speaker of the Senate to serve on the executive committee before the first forum meeting of the summer term. The Representatives consist of one member from each organization recognized by the activities committee. They are required to attend all bi-monthly forum meetings as well as be a member of a standing committee and report that committee's progress during forum meetings. Judicial BranchThe Judicial Branch will oversee all matters of constitutional review and will preside over cases on an individual basis as they arise.
