How to join

With over 120 Registered Student Organizations (RSO) to choose from, you are sure to find one that matches your interests.

How do I know which Registered Student Organization (RSO) is right for me?

First you’ll want to check out the different websites available for campus RSOs.

You will find a link to the different categories of RSOs listed in the navigation at the left of this page. Each category has a variety of groups that may suit you.

  • Academic and Professional:
Professional RSOS provide an opportunity for individuals to discuss and share information related to a specific academic field, topic or interest.
  • Honor Societies:
Honor Societies are RSOs that recognize high levels of academic achievement and generally require a demonstrated interest in a particular career or academic discipline.

  • Performing Arts:
Performing Arts RSOs are composed of students that have an interest in the performing Arts, including drama, and music.

  • Greeks: visit How to join a Greek

  • Special Interest:
Special Interest RSOs encourage students to discuss and share information regarding a particular area of interest.

What if the Registered Student Organization (RSO) I’m interested in doesn’t have a website?

You can go to the Office of Student Life and Development in Davidson 271 to get more information about all the RSOs on campus. You may be directed to an adviser for the RSO that you are interested in.

How do I get in touch with the Registered Student Organization (RSO) that I want to join?

If the RSO has a website, look for contact information or the names of officers in charge of new members or recruitment. You can contact these officers via CougarNet GMAIL for information. Most of the time there will be information about how to join an RSO on the website.

If there’s not a website for the RSO you’re interested in, you can contact the Office of Student Life and Development at 706-568-2273 to get the name of the organization’s adviser who can then get you in touch with the RSO.

If you are interested in joining a Greek RSO please visit the Greek Life homepage for more specific information about how to join.

What if I want to start my own Registered Student Organization (RSO)?

Starting an RSO is fairly simple but does require some paperwork. Visit the Office of Student Life and Development in the Davidson Student Center room 271 to pick up a RSO Application.
