WHAT IS THE COLUMBUS STATE BAPTIST STUDENT UNION?
Local Columbus area churches and the Georgia Baptist Convention reach out to students on the campus of Columbus State through the program known as the Baptist Student Union. The BSU is an organization that encourages a balanced, mature Christian development during college. The BSU remains the the oldest and largest organization at Columbus State and is open to all students. The BSU wants students to find Christ, grow in their Christian faith, and grow in their Christian response to others in the world around them.

The BSU is a program of Christian outreach and Christian growth, or the Inward Journey and the Outward Journey. The Journey Inward serves to strengthen students and includes all aspects of growth related to worship, churchmanship, fellowship, bible study, and in stewardship of life. The Journey Outward provides opportunities for students to minister to the needs of other persons through evangelistic witness, social action, and ministry with internationals and other students.

WHERE DOES THE BSU MEET?
The BSU holds a variety of meetings during the course of a week. They meet at 9pm on Sunday evenings for "Refuge" (a student praise and worship time). They also meet each Thursday at 12.30pm for a Student Luncheon at the BSU Center. This meeting is designed for great fellowship, dynamic worship and a great time of Christian growth in collegiate discipleship!

Each week there are various discipleship family groups meeting around the campus to allow for spiritual growth, encouragement and fellowship.

From discipleship groups, ministry teams, praise and worship or just having a good '01 time to in Christ get involved with BSU and check out what's happening here at CSU!

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Just come by and check out the groups. By attending the meetings you are already classified a BSU participant. For more info you can contact our BSU President (Amber McGowan) (mcgowan_amber@colstate.edu) or the the BSU Campus Minister (Tony Gray) at tony@student.org (706-563-2089).

Jesus stated that though we are not to be of the world, we are to be in the world.  This means that God intends for us to bring our transformed lives into contact with those who do not know God or those searching.  No matter who you are, how young or how old or where you've been, in many ways we should always be searching—always growing.  That is why Cougars for Christ, a non denominational campus ministry, exists: to give you more people to fellowship with and grow as we all seek out God’s purpose and will for our lives.

Our common goal and emphasis will always be on Jesus Christ, His Word and a life led by the Spirit while experiencing our Father’s amazing love.   So come on and be yourself as we grow in Christ, get wrapped up in the Word and experience a life of true purpose led by the Spirit!

Come and build life-changing relationships, share in praise and devotional time with us; just hang out and be yourself.  This is also a great time to come and see who we are truly about and who we are striving to be.

Life With A Purpose Campus Ministries
President Nick Grier,
nickgrier@hotmail.com

We are a group of believers dedicated to bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone who has an ear to listen. We are a very diverse and nondenominational campus ministry focused on showing individuals how to live their lives on the purpose that God has called them to. The ministry conducts bible study every Monday night at 9:00 p.m. in room 202 of the Rankin dorm. There are also accountability groups that meet once a week for both males and females.

We also fellowship with one another through outside activities such as bowling and skating. We welcome anyone who feels the need to learn more about Christ!

Join us in the Fall beginning Monday, August 23 at 9 p.m. in the Rankin Center.  If you do not live in the Rankin Dorm, e-mail Nick in advance for access to the building.

Don't see the group you're looking for?

Try one of these ideas:
  1. Check the CSU Clubs and Organizations page.  Not all faith-based groups have joined the Campus Ministry Association, so you may find a group there to interest you.

  2. Try the yellow pages.  Call area churches or groups to see if they offer classes and activities for your faith.  If they don't, ask if they're interested in starting something new.

  3. Start your own group!  Call Student Activities to learn more about starting your own organization. If you're starting a faith-based group, please let us know so we can help you out with advice and advertising to find your first members!
