Arden | Guidelines for Submissions
Arden is an annual journal that publishes art, literary nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Contributors must be either enrolled as a student or a member of the faculty/staff at Columbus State University.
All submissions must be emailed by December 15.
Guidelines for artwork:
- Artists may submit digital images of up to six pieces of artwork in any medium.
- Both color and black and white images will be considered for cover and interior art.
- Limited space is available for interior color art. When submitting, please designate whether or not the color artwork may be reproduced in black and white, if necessary.
Guidelines for poetry:
- Each author may submit no more than six poems. Poetry submissions should not exceed 50 lines. Exceptions to this limit may be made for work of stellar quality.
Guidelines for prose:
- Each author may submit no more than three pieces of prose.
- Fiction and nonfiction manuscripts should not exceed 3,000 words. Exceptions to the word limit may be made for work of stellar quality.
Electronic Submissions:
- Submit Microsoft Word files or digital image files via e-mail attachment.
- Each submission should be attached as a separate file. Please do not copy your submission into the body of the e-mail.
- Contributors must not identify themselves in any way on any page of text submitted.
- Please remove User Information file tags. (In Microsoft Word, Tools-Options-User Information-delete any personal information)
- Contributors will receive email notification in mid-February of acceptance or denial.
- Complete the Arden Submission Form (found on the website).
