  Our Purpose

The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind.

  History

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1908 at Howard University, Washington, DC. It is the first Greek-letter organization founded by women of African descent.

Eta Iota was charted on the Columbus College (Now Columbus State University) campus on Dec. 1st, 1972 with 12 charter members.
