AAUW supports family health and safety, specifically:

Women’s health issues

Choice in determining one’s reproductive life

Immunization of all children regardless of ethnic or cultural background

AAUW supports public education as the foundation of a democratic society, emphasizing:

Gender equity, for women and girls from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds

Funding of teacher training which includes gender equity in staff development and teacher education programs

Expansion of pre-school and non-traditional educational programs

AAUW supports career access--a women’s right to develop economic self-sufficiency with:

Equitable access to jobs and career advancement for women of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds

Pay equity through enforcement of anti-discrimination statutes regardless of sex, race, or age

Policies that set standards and provide for dependent care for children or adults

AAUW supports the dignity of all persons, opposes all forms of discrimination and promotes affirmative action as a remedy for:

Sexual harassment, through training programs and enforcement remedies in the community, workplace or educational environment

AAUW supports a healthful environment for the well-being of all persons by:

Responsible management of air, water and waste
