AAUW is composed of
two corporations:
- The Association
The Association—with more than
100,000 members,
1,300 branches, and 550
college/university institution
partners nationwide—advocates
education and equity. Since its
founding in 1881, members have
examined and taken positions on the
fundamental issues of the
day—educational, social, economic,
and political. Our commitment to our
mission is reflected in our
public policy efforts,
programs,
Leadership and Training Institute,
and
diversity initiatives. AAUW's
work extends globally through its
international connections and
membership in the
International Federation of
University Women.
- The AAUW Educational
Foundation
The
AAUW Educational Foundation is
the world's largest source of
funding exclusively for graduate
women. Each year the Foundation
provides about $4 million in
fellowships, grants, and awards
for outstanding women around the
globe and for community action
projects. The Foundation also funds
pioneering
research on women, girls, and
education, and
international symposia.
- The
AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund, a
program of the AAUW Educational
Foundation, is the nation's largest
legal fund focused solely on sex
discrimination in higher education.
The Legal Advocacy Fund provides
funds and a support system for women
seeking judicial redress for sex
discrimination in higher education.
